4 checkpoints
to swap on time.

It's easy to put it off. Here is what we look at when we recommend booking a time. You can always move your booking free of charge up to 24 hours before your visit.

  • You must use winter tyres from 1 December to 31 March when winter road conditions apply.
  • You may use studded tyres from 1 October to 15 April, and outside that period too if winter road conditions apply or are expected.
  • The 7 / 7 / 7 rule: seven days in a row, at 7 in the morning, below 7 degrees. Colder than that and winter tyres grip better, studded or not. Warmer than that and summer tyres are the better choice.
  • Book (and ideally swap) in good time. It's usually worth switching to winter tyres before the snow arrives to avoid getting stranded.

    You arrive

    If you have the wheels with you, they go in the car. If they're in storage with us, we pull them out ahead of your visit.

  2. 02

    We swap

    The wheels are changed, bolts/nuts tightened with a calibrated torque wrench to the manufacturer's specification. Tyre pressure adjusted to the vehicle's data, which is usually printed by the driver's door.

  3. 03

    We report

    You receive a short status report on the tyres' tread depth, age and condition. If anything needs attention we'll let you know. Otherwise you're done.

  • How long does a wheel swap take?

    Allow around 20 minutes when you have a booked time. We usually start as soon as the booking begins unless we're running a little behind in the workshop. On every car we tighten the nuts/bolts with a calibrated torque wrench and check tyre pressure before you leave. While you wait there's usually wifi and coffee (this may vary between workshops and if something happens to be out of order).

  • Do I need to book a time?

    To guarantee you'll get help, YES. During the swap seasons (October/November and April) demand is high and we cannot guarantee drop-in. We extend opening hours and open as much as possible to help everyone. We do our best to help with urgent puncture repairs but time of day is unfortunately limited.

  • What does it cost?

    A passenger car with standard tyres costs 440 kr at Brunna, Sollentuna and Tyresö, and 480 kr at the other workshops. SUV and large tyres cost 530 and 570 kr respectively. For single wheels the per-wheel price is 145 kr for standard wheels and 175 kr for large ones. Balancing costs 120 kr per wheel. All prices include VAT.

  • What happens if my tyres are too worn?

    We measure the tread depth and report the values before we swap. If the tyres are below the legal requirement (1.6 mm summer, 3.0 mm winter) we'll tell you and you decide whether to buy new ones. If the tyres are dangerous we reserve the right to refuse the swap.

  • Can you store my tyres until next season?

    Yes. We have a tyre hotel at all workshops. You leave the tyres after the swap, we wash and store them in a climate-controlled environment to maximise tyre lifespan. When it's nearly time for the next swap we'll send an SMS to remind you to book. Your wheels will then be ready on site before your swap, so you don't have to lift, transport or give up storage space at home.

  • When is it time to swap?

    The 7/7/7 rule is helpful: when it has been below 7 degrees at 7 in the morning for 7 days in a row it may be time for winter tyres, and vice versa for summer tyres. By law you must, in winter road conditions or at risk of winter road conditions, have winter tyres between 1 December and 31 March. Studded tyres must also be swapped off before 16 April, unless winter is still here with winter road conditions.

  • What is included in the price?

    Removal and fitting of four wheels, tightening with a calibrated torque wrench to the manufacturer's specification, tread depth and tyre pressure check, and a brief visual inspection of the tyres. Balancing is extra if you want it, 120 kr per wheel.

  • What happens if I can't make my appointment?

    Let us know as soon as you can. Cancellations and rebookings are free of charge up to 24 hours before your time. Later than that we charge for the missed appointment, depending on whether it was for a swap or fitting of loose tyres onto an existing rim.

Correct tyre pressure improves tyre performance and lifespan.

Torque tightening

We tighten all nuts/bolts with a torque wrench so your wheels are secure but not over-tightened. This ensures the wheels can be removed easily if something goes wrong and you need to fit a spare at the roadside.

Status update and inspection

We can always let you know if your tyres need replacing. Ask our workshop staff. If your tyres are close to the legal limit or in poor condition for any other reason, we'll recommend new tyres and can arrange a quote.

What we do during the swap

  • We remove your wheels. We can replace your bolts if there is heavy rust.
  • We clean the contact surfaces. So the wheels sit exactly as they should.
  • We torque all bolts/nuts. Worth checking again after 50–100 km.
  • We always check tyre pressure. You leave the workshop with the correct pressure.
